Lucknow: Moving swiftly on the Banda rape case, the Uttar Pradesh government has suspended a cop for allegedly misbehaving with the victim while she was in jail.
Sub-inspector Jabbar posted in Banda has been temporarily removed from duty for allegedly misbehaving with the teenaged girl while she was in custody on charges of theft.
Mayawati had earlier in the day ordered for the release of the Banda teen allegedly raped by BSP MLA Purushottam Narain Dwivedi. The girl is believed to have been implicated on theft charges and is in jail. The Chief Minister has also asked Uttar Pradesh Home Secretary to provide security to girl.
