Trust us once more, will deliver a better life, says BJP

Guwahati: Top BJP leaders, Chief Ministers and party workers are in Guwahati for a brainstorming session at their national executive committee meet. Day 1 of their session saw the BJP launching a scathing attack on the Congress over corruption.

Following that, BJP General Secretary Ravi Shankar Prasad, speaking to NDTV, said that it is time the country gives BJP another chance.

"You have seen UPA-1 and you have seen UPA -2, they have no initiative left whatsoever to contain prices. Under an economist Prime Minister, people are suffering and corruption galore. Corruption is the signature tune of UPA-2, and if these lakhs of crores would have been saved in so many scams, how many roads would have been built, how many hospitals would have been built? Therefore, a proper positioning of the NDA vis-a-vis UPA. You have trusted them for the last seven years. You have seen Mr Vajpayee's government. Trust us once more, we will deliver for a better life for you," he said.

The BJP at their two-day national executive committee meet also pledged to work hard to come to power in the 2014 general elections.

BJP for bill in Parliament for creation of Telangana state

Guwahati: BJP today adopted a statement on Telangana issue at its national executive meet, demanding that the government introduce a bill in Parliament at the earliest for the creation of a separate state.

"BJP demands that the government should announce that a bill for the creation of a separate state of Telangana will be introduced in Parliament for passage at the earliest," the resolution said.

The statement expressed disappointment at the "attitude" of the UPA government in "delaying" the creation of a separate state of Telangana and said, "BJP believes that the expectations of the people of the region for the creation of Telangana are legitimate."

The principal opposition has maintained that Telangana should be carved out of Andhra Pradesh without any delay and termed the formation of the Srikrishna Commission as a "diversionary and delaying tactic" of the Congress.

BJP reiterated in today's statement its stand on smaller states which it claims are easier to administer and helps in accelerating the economic growth of the region.
