Punjab, Haryana get colder; Amritsar shivers

Chandigarh: The icy cold wave sweeping across Punjab and Haryana intensified with minimum temperature in most parts of the region plunging down to 3 degree Celsius.

The minimum temperature in parts of Punjab and Haryana hovered between one to two degrees Celsius below normal, aggravating the cold conditions in the region, the MeT office said.

Amritsar continued to be the coldest place in the region standing at a low of 1.8 degree Celsius, which was two degrees below normal.

While Narnaul braved a low of 4 degree Celsius, the minimum temperature at Bhiwani was 4.6 degree Celsius.

Among other places, Hisar shivered at a low of 4.7 degree Celsius, one degree below normal, followed by 5 degree Celsius each at Patiala and Chandigarh, one degree below normal.

Ludhiana settled at a low of 4.9 degree Celsius, 1 degree below normal, the minimum at Karnal and Rohtak was 5.4 degree Celsius each.

Most of Punjab was misty on Monday morning reducing visibility considerably.

Besides, icy cold wave swept across the region, forcing people to remain indoors.

As per the MeT forecast, dry weather will prevail in the region for the next two days.
