Nexux between Trinamool & Maoists: CPM

GUWAHATI: The CPI (M) stepped up its attack on Trinamool Congress alleging that more and more evidence was emerging on nexus between the party and Maoists in West Bengal.

CPI (M) general secretary, Prakash Karat told media persons here on Monday that the Left party was not satisfied with the Centre's response to the Trinamool-Maoist nexus.

"More and more evidences are emerging on the collaboration between Trinamool and Maoist. This is being done to disrupt the functioning of Left parties and create disturbances for achieving narrow political ends in the state," Karat said.

The CPI (M) general secretary said that his party was unsatisfied with the Centre's response to the alleged nexus.

Without taking Mamata Banerjee's name, Karat blamed the Centre for not doing anything to stop the nexus and questioned the grounds on which the Trinamool chief was allowed to be a minister in the central government.

"Centre is silent on the collaboration between Trinamool and Maoist. Despite the collaboration how can one be allowed to become a minister in the centre? We have not got any satisfactory answers from the Centre yet. We want the Centre to ensure that this Trinamool-Maoist nexus ends, and pave the way for peaceful assembly election," Karat said.

Karat added that CPI (M) was able to regain the parts of West Bengal where the left party lost to Trinamool in the 2009 Lok Sabha polls.

"Our politburo and party state committee assessed the situation, and found the situation improved. We are recovering those areas where we lost in the Lok Sabha election," he said.
